Time Is An Illusion.

Time is an illusion.
My house mate says this quite often, one day I asked him what does it mean or why do you say that? He answered me with that he didn’t know he just liked the concept when he first heard it, and that he liked to use it as a freedom excuse.
Being the way that I think I set myself a challenge to find out or discover rather what this means.
After weeks of contemplation I have came up with what I think ‘time is an illusion’ means.
When you look at it if I asked you what time was, you would probably tell me the time or say its days, minutes &seconds, or a really creative answer would be the system we live by.
I think that in order to understand the concept of ‘time is an illusion’ you need to start thinking in this mind set. Time doesn’t exist.
Time really doesn’t exist, only the system of measurement we use to measure or see it. In another way to look at it when you measure an amount of water we use a measuring cup, the water sits inside the cup. The measurement isn’t the water itself only the way we measure or perceive it.
In the same way the way we measure time using minutes hours days dates isn’t the time itself only the way we measure or perceive it.
Time is an illusion in the way that we can’t see it work in front of us. We can’t tangibly watch time, we can only watch the measuring system laid out in front of us to watch it.  Yet we lay our lives out to this system the time we wake up the time we go to sleep and how all things operate.
So you can ask your self are you really free when you live your life in an illusion?
